M&H Soaring is proud to announce that starting January 2004, we will be the exclusive US representative for Schempp-Hirth Flugzeugbau. The Schempp-Hirth family of sailplanes includes proven designs in all four major FAI racing categories, as well as its high performance double seater design. Each of these sailplanes is available in various configurations to best suit the owner’s requirements. These include:
 
· Two different fuselage sizes for the Ventus 2 and Discus 2; a smaller “a” fuselage, or the larger “b” fuselage to best suit the size of the pilot;

· Various configurations of the Ventus 2 and Discus 2 which are both optimized for 15meter and 18meter wing spans;

· Motorized options allowing for a sustainer Turbo engine “T” or an engine capable of self launching ”M”, which quickly and easily retracts into the fuselage.

The combination of high performance design, ease of handling and an elegant simplicity of engineering have made Schempp-Hirth sailplanes the choice of both the competition and record setting pilots as well as for those pilots interested in sailplanes with higher performance for training and cross country soaring. With more than 25 World Championship titles and 50 US National Championship titles so far, along with numerous World Records, Schempp-Hirth can be considered as the world’s most successful glider manufacturer.

  • Schempp-Hirth has issued a very important Tech Note/AD for certain sustainer equipped gliders: Technical Notes with an working instruction and the corresponding summary of Schempp-Hirth TN's and AD's

TN 825-38 / Ventus-2cT, SN 1 through 179

TN 863-13 / Discus-2T, S/N 1 through 40 and Discus-2cT, S/N 1 through 30

Subject of these TN's is inspection of the engine mounting structure (pylon) for cracks

In this matter, the EASA has issued an emergency AD No. 2006-0227-E dated 26.07.2006
