Features and Options
The Duo Discus is a two-seater purposely conceived by
In terms of performance, the Duo Discus with its 20 m wing span (65.62 ft.) is the best two seat sailplane for normal club operation. It keeps up with the Janus even through is has no camber changing flaps. Its flight handling, on the other hand, demands much less attention from the crew. The appearance of the Duo Discus - which supplements models
Janus Ce and Nimbus 4D - bears a great resemblance, as suggested by its
name, to the single and the sweptback leading edge of the outer portion,
the result is an equally impressive and elegant contour in flight. The four piece wing is a GFRP foam sandwich construction with spar caps made from carbon fiber rovings. When the outer panels are removed, the span of the Duo Discus is only 16.25 m (53.3 ft) so it is easily hangared and can be transported in a trailer of ordinary length. Ailerons, airbrakes and water ballast dump valves all hook up automatically when the Duo Discus is rigged, which is accomplished easily by three persons with the aid of a wing stand.
